Leo you said this machine is 5 years old, it may be time for new rollers. We had to change the rollers on a machine that was 7 years old. The rubber rollers got hard and left dents when a chip were rolled over. That is one of the points of the rubber roller to absorb the chip so it doesn't dent the wood. Also could be too much down ward pressure on the rollers too. I really don't think you will ever be able to completely stop the chips from getting out and rolled over.

Machine is 7 years old and everything is metal.

The only rubber rollers I have in my shop are on my W&H molder. And they should be replaced.
