Good Buy?

I think I scored, do you?

Just picked up a new MK-101 pro from the orange box for $262.00. Didn't really need a big new tile saw, but for that kind of money. Any one else have one of these? If so how has it preformed. I dont tile everyday, maybe once every couple of months, but I do have 5 bathrooms coming up this year to do so what the heck huh?

Re: Good Buy?

the saw is great. i have one from the same box store. i like yourself dont use it everyday but it does come in handy. especially for the price that you got it at. Just wondering did you get that from the store in marion that is closing. I am heading there this weekend for family stuff but i hear they are closing and everything is discounted.

Is there a typo of some sort in there? I am not a tile guy, but seems to me that the MK101 Pro is in the $900 to$1000 range. What are your saws specs? At that price, I will stop by the big orange tomorrow to look for sure. Will jump on that just to have it for re doing my master bath at home. Thanks. If you have the saw I'm thinking of for that price, that's not a deal, it's a steal of major proportions.

Re: Good Buy?

No, the store in Auburn is not closing, it just so happened that I was in the right place right time. They found it on top of one of the racks and wanted to get rid of it. It was marked down to 799, then 599, then 299, and I bitched about it not having the paperwork so they took another 50.00 off.

2hp baldor motor, no stand of course, umm 20" tile, 14" diagonal, 3 1/2" cutting depth.

I have the regular MK-101, bought it used about 3 years a go. It's a beast! Haven't had any problems.

It's definitely a good saw. 2nd only to a Felker Tile Master in my opinion.

GREAT score! I'd buy one in a heartbeat for that price.

Re: Good Buy?

I have had my MK-101 for 15 years now, and I think I paid $900 for it back then and it came with a stand.

I have not had any problems with it but I also do not use it every day, and only use it maybe 4 times a year. My saw still looks brand new and I keep it real clean. Keeping it clean helps make it last without any problems. Also the nice thing about the 101's compared to the 100's is they have a shield over the slide.

Re: Good Buy?

Smokin deal I'll buy it off you for $400. MK is located by my house and they make top quality products. I walked into corporate office when I needed a part for my MK bricksaw that noone carried on stock. They looked at me like what are you doing here but ended up getting me the part I needed for cost and I even met the owner while I waited for them to get my part. Very nice people and everything is top notch at their facility which is right behind the corporate office. Had the saw back up and running while my guys ate lunch. The piece that failed was the inner shaft drive of the water pump its driven by a belt of the gas motor. The new one they gave me is longer to bind less. The saw itself is heavy duty thats for sure. I have had a MK 101 for 8 years and only the switch on the motor has gone bad but its double sided so it only took about 5 minutes to fix after a call to their tech line.

Ahh, a case of perfect timing. Fantastic deal for sure.
