I'm feeling you there. I look after after my children...uh...tools too. The thing with the 7.5 is I mostly use it indoors for walls studs and moldings so the laser works pretty good there. Hey, have you found the bearings a little notchy towards the end of the slide? Mine feels a bit strange but despite pulling it apart and re-greasing it the bearing still catches a little on the slide (it shouldn't as it's only a month old and has been taken care of).

Not toward the end, no. Although I can feel when the lower slide hits the stop, but it doesn't effect the cut, or the overall slide operation; it's still smooth.
I used it today, in fact, cutting cedar claps. It's perferct for claps and shingles, neither of which need to stand against the fence. The small footprint and light weight make it perfect for scaffold/roof work.
