Festool questions

Anyone have the guide rail accessory kit? I have two clamps in there that I cant quite figure out how they are supposed to work.

I picked up the CT-33 today as well. I love this stuff!!!

Not rich enough for them fancy tools,
but I have an old guide rail with clamps
like that.
They slide into a groove in the bottom
of the rail so that you can clamp it
to the stock.

I git it now. I had the tall piece on the rail and couldn't see that their was a groove for that underneath.

It would only go upside down in the upper track! (not very useful that way)

Thanks

I had the pleasure of getting a full on one on one demo of everything I was interested in today at my local Woodcraft. Damn the list just got longer and more expensive. Now I need a MFT/3, Domino, and a router, cant decide between the 1400 or the 2200. Jason, you will soon realize that their tools represent a portable mill shop for complete onsite work, only your imagination will hold you back.

Yup, it is a downward spiral.

I seem to get limited use from those clamps. I usually only use them when the stock is slippery or when I am trimming a small piece.

Warner, I have the 1400 and it is an amazing router. The best, ergonomically speaking, out of any router I've ever used. It has plenty of power for just about any thing you would need it for on site. I would say the 2200 for in shop and 1400 for site work....see, now you need both

Thats like 1400.00 for 2 Routers, I need to get on that!!!

I am really looking hard at the LR-32 system for line boring holes for cabinets and being able to use the routers for all of my dados and rabbeting applications. What a marvel concept to have the routers be able to use the rail system as well.

Jason,

I have that kit and it's nice to have.

The only time I feel the need to use the clamps is if I'm cutting a sheet that isn't flat--the rubber doesn't get a good enough grip.

I don't trust the angle finder thing. I set mine to 90º to get a perfect 90, and lo and behold there is enough slop in it to really make a long rip go whacky. Heck, even cross cuts weren't really that good. I don't use that anymore unless I don't need super critical cuts. Just a warning.... I think Festool should cut a 90º detent into that gauge.

Anyway...ENJOY!

Agree 100% about the Protractor thingy that comes in the kit, worthless. The only good one they have is the one that comes with their MFT/3. That one is nice. I have seen people modify the protractor so it has some sort of detent or extra set screw or something like that.

I really only set out to buy the guard for the end of the rail and was told I could only get it in the kit. I need to check the catalog to see if that's true. I don't mind having one kit because it comes with the rail connectors, but I'd like another rail guard for the other rail I have. I'm not going to buy two kits to get it.

Warner, thanks for the PM

I have one and found the part. I think it's the only thing you can buy from them for about $15 Also ordered a systainer for the hoses.

I gotta stay out of that end of the store for a while now.
