Festool guide rail

Has anyone managed to attach a non festool router to the guide rail system?

Or for that matter is their a good universal router guide rail system?

You need to make a plate out of hard board or something like that. It is kind of a pain in the butt. It can be done.

I think that it makes more sense if you are going to be doing alot of guided routing, to pick up one of thier routers. Their routers are made for that purpose.

You will have to play around but, I bet you can make something work.

i am a newbie to festool stuff (and have to order everything online) but if i buy a 1010 or 1400 do the automatically have the grooves built in for the guide rail or is there an attachment that needs to be purchased to use it on them?

You need to get a few extra parts for the 1400 to go on the rail.

You will need a guide stop and some rods.

I personally think that the only router to buy from them is the OF 1400. It can use 1/4", 8 mm and 1/2" bits.

Call your online dealer and tell him you need a catalog.
