AS well as your methods for production
that allow all cuts to be made
outside.
I do things my way

I simply wanted to know why zip-walls are used since I cannot see a practical use for them

I dunno, maybe I'm missing something

also, like I said I haven't done hardwood flooring... re-read my post and you'll get it

Re: Festool Good?

I've done jobs for nursing homes and hospitals and the Zip Walls are worth having to block off an area that you need to get work done in. It contains the mess and also keeps patients and nosy people out of a place where they could get hurt.

They are relatively cheap vs. building temporary walls, however some owners specify hard temp walls for safety reasons.

I've also used them in houses where you contain your mess to the area you are working in.

Re: Festool Good?

even outside I still hook all the tools to the dust extractor, why choke down a cloud of saw dust when there is no need to. BCARDIO you sound like the last guys that did the flooring for a kitchken insurance job I did. They filled the house with dust and smoke from their piece of crap tools and blades. (they were in the garage cutting, I mean gnawing the flooring) Covered all the cabinets with dust covered entire house with dust and that nast smelling, my blade is on backwards and I dont know how to use a table saw SMOKE!!!! If you want to be that guy go ahead, that way you would have to pay the 1500.00 cleaning bill. No mess, no complaints, less time picking up and cleaning, happy HO's more work. Guys that seems simple, right?

And they're handy when you gut a
bath or a kitchen.
Nice to keep the wind from blowing
through a house when replacing
doors or windows (especially in the
winter).
Isolates the mess from the rest
of the house when doing a basement
finish..........

you sound like the typical ignorant uneducated contractors that I typically see doing houses these days... well hopefully you graduated high school cause you OBVIOUSLY couldn't handle college hahaha.

I never said I didn't clean up after myself so don't assume things!!

also, when the occasion calls, I do use a shop vac to collect dust... but I don't pay for overpriced tools like Festool. And I could probably guarantee that I leave my houses cleaner than you do yours since I do the messy stuff outside.

Leave professional work to the real professionals please!

Re: Festool Good?

I do general remodeling (but I mostly focus on trim and other finish carpentry)

So I guess I can't really say anything "bad" about Festool... its just I don't do anything specialized enough to have a need to spend that kind of money on tools. I know they are great quality tools.

No hard feelings to anyone I hope.

If you ever do jobs that require
plater removal, new drywall work,
new hardwood.....
complete gut and redo.
You would appreciate dust control
like zip wall etal.
Even basement remodels/finishes,
containment can beat hundreds of
extra trips through the house to
make every cut out doors.
Especially in bad weather.
And drywall finishing pretty much
has to be done in the house,
no?

True to that texturing is super messy... I guess I was more curious as to why people like them so much (since I got by fine without them for so long)

I guess I might need to save up and get me a setup like that
