FAT MAX Extreme

I didn't want to hijack the TBA thread with a tool review so I thought I'd start a new one.

Used the new Fat Max Extreme today and put it through it's paces. It's a nice tape measure. The colour on the tape is very visible. It actually took a bit to get used to such a bright colour under the marking. The extra lamination at the end 8 inches is a good idea.

The only bad thing I have to say about it is that it's a little slow on winding back in. I'm not sure if this is because it's so or because the tape itself is thicker than the old Fat Max. I'm thinking it just needs to get broken in a bit.

I give it

Thats the only reason I got it. For the chrome case. Now I just need a harley to hang it off of. Or someone to wheelburrow me for the joust.

You aint got a thing if you aint got the BLING!!!

I've eyeballed and handled them a few times, but I have plenty of fatty max's already so I'm gonna wait till some tapes crack before I get the newest blinged out version!!

So if you read between the lines Josh, it sounds like you go into your local tool supplier and fondle the tools . Are you seeking help for that?

I noticed the same thing when I was fondling it in the store
I think the spring is to weak for the length of the tape.

You don't realize what a difference the brightness makes until you've used it a bit. It's especially nice when you're wearing sunglasses.

Fat Max

Hey Josh, Terry-

Yes, the old FMs work just fine, chrome sounds like a newbie item for a DIYer; and yes, surely, it is important to have a bright tape when you wear sunglasses in a dark house...Oh! you mean OUTSIDE?!

I'm pretty sure the tape extends to 13', which is 2' farther than the old fat max.

Shiney blinged out case

Bright flouresant yellow tape that damn near glows in the dark Worn shades my entire life so dont know any difference stright eyed or dark eyed reading it...just know now that summer is here all I ever see is sweaty smeared lenses with sweat running down them I hate that

extending 2' farther than what we're used to with the "original fatty max" incase of wheel barrow jousting

I will be getting a new 30' er now, bling case and all thanks to this trhead, if nothing else to rub anti-bling subs/contractors the wrong way when I blind them in the "sunshine reflection".

If trying to justify the bling, think of it as a safety device should you fall in a hole, use the case like a mirror to signal help.

Bleh, I've worn glasses most of my life and I feel your pain, but have a suggestion.

About 5 years ago I was in the local welding supply shop and bought some goofy looking sponges with a rubber band on them. They are meant to be wet down, wrung out, and worn as a sweatband. Keeps 90% or more of the sweat off the glasses. I love them.

Only complaint is, you need to rewet them to cool them off every hour or so, but if you're drinking plenty of water ( you are, right?) then its a no brainer to just run some water over them real quick from the water cooler.
