Fastening wood to masonary with Framing Guns...

Fastening wood to masonary with Framing Guns...

...I've done it. We used a Porter Cable Framer to attach 1X2's to a masonary wall.

It worked.

Question, is it wrong? If so, why?

In choosing between getting a Hitachi or a Bostitch, what the Bostitch is winning over the Hitachi is on features and the fact that the Bostitch states that it can be used for attaching wood to masonary work.

Can it be used (assuming that there are special hardened nails for it I guess) to attach 2X4 sole plates to poured concrete floors (for example, in a basement or on a garage slab)?

Or are powder actuated fasteners the only way to go?

Models in question:
Bostitch F21PL
(won't consider the 28 or 33 because one doesn't shoot full round head nails and the other isn't usable for metal connecting)
Hitachi NR90AC3
(Currently, Hitachi's best)

Why Hitachi?
Reputation
Proven Reliability
Love that industrial "look"
The choice of Pro Framers

Why Bostitch?
Great Quality
2 Guns In 1 (Framer/Metal Connector Fastener)
Wide Variety Of Applications
Lighter (by almost a full pound)
Would fit nicely with my other Bostitch guns
Longer warranty (7 years VS 5 years for Hitachi)

And...while money is not a major deciding factor, the fact that the Bostitch is about $150. less, makes it extremely attractive when for the same price of a Hitachi, I'll get 3 guns (The Framer/Metal connector + a Palm Nailer).

Issues?
Bostitch "ain't" #1 among the pros
Hitachi cold performance problems

Thanks.
