Dust hood for miter saws

Good afternoon boys,

I have seen these dust hoods in various pics posted on this forum.

I'm talking about the hoods that fit on the stands themselves-they seem like they would contain a lot of dust.

Any pros or cons? Maybe a link?

Thanks,
Roger

I have never used one, but I think I would rather use a dust collector. But I also don't want to bring a dust collector with me everywhere. Catch 22

Do you take a shop vac with you everywhere?

ive seen guys rig up shop vacs to their mitre saws but i cant figure out how they get it so that when the saw fires up so does the shop vac is it something to do with a special extension cord that senses the power draw that fires up the vac or something

I'll sell you mine, if I can find it. I use it for the times I use my table saw.

Nope, just a broom and dust pan.

I wish someone made a really small dust collector that you hook up to a trash bag. I don't need a huge container with wheels, just something to hold the dust.

All of my work is commercial, so there is always a big room empty room for me to cut in. All of our trim is cleaned by hand. What would I need a vac for?

I guess that answers that.

Just get a small shop vac with a hepa filter and bag, if possible. You should be able to hook most vacs directley to your saw.

Then get one of those vac/isockets/plug thingy's and when you turn the saw on it kicks the vac on.

Yeah, after my first comment I started looking at small shop vacs. Now the only problem is getting the 4 other people with saws to do the same. Even still, keeping my own dust down would be worth it.
