Dremel 6300-01 Multi-Max

Anyone have one yet? Comments, reviews? I was looking at both the Fein and the Dremel. Price wise there is no doubt. What about usability, power? How does it feel in your hand. I have used the Fein and would like to get one, but at 1/3rd the price, the Dremel has me curious.

If I was an installer I would already have one of these things. But I only do my own installs and usually that is about 10 a year. And out of those 10 I would need the saw about 3 of those times. For the money they want, especially the replacement blades, I could deal with a tool of a bit less quality.

And ask IHI, I am a cheap bastard.

And as a matter of fact, I am the areas president of the cheap bastards club.

I sprang for one based on feedback I saw here, and I've been like a kid with a new toy.

It's NOT high powered, but as long as you're patient and don't try to bull your way through a cut, it does quite nicely. I've almost exclusively been using that ~3/4" wide sawblade. You can plunge it straight into a piece of wood and make a square or even triangular hole with a few cuts.

I did have a door jamb the other day that needed a piece about 1x6" cut out and replaced. I tried the half-circle blade for the rip cut and was disappointed--wound up switching back to the skinny blade. It just didn't seem to cut well at all with that much surface area in contact with the wood.

It handles nicely, and though more power would definitely be nice, it's way ahead of having nothing like that at all!

I heard that the others blades can be used on the MM.

I know what you mean but, at the same time you would probably not out live a MM either.
