Re: Discussion Etiquette

I'm not a carpenter but like the last guy said, why cut both ends?

Re: Discussion Etiquette

Square the ends. You don't necessarily need to cut both end its just good to do in some situations. like cutting engineered floor joist or ragged p.t. The other end can be used as a stop.

Re: Discussion Etiquette

I can see where this would be use full. However I am a pretty fast cut with a skill saw and would prefer for all my guys to be as well. Using something like this or a chop saw makes your cut skills suffer and you need to know how to handle a saw weather, in the air, tight spaces, above your head or just in a awkward position. As a framer you need to know how to handle a saw thats all i am sayin. now that being said if i was building a apartment complex or something that was the same all the way down and all the way up I might buy something like this to speed up the process.

Re: Discussion Etiquette

Cman is starting to see it! I do agree with the comment that we should all be skilled enough run a saw accurately. But when it comes to delegating responsibility wouldn't it be nice to be able to have the lowest guy on the crew cut hundreds of dollars of material perfectly every time? and your foreman can be freed up from such tediously labor?
