Digital Level Protractor

My name is Jeremy O'Halloran, and I'm currently getting my bachelors degree for industrial design. For one of my classes, im designing an ergonomic digital protractor/level. I would love any sort of feedback about the tool.

I have a survey out right now, please fill it out if you have the time! thanks in advance.

also feel free to talk here as well...

There are a bunch of these on the market now, the Bosch DWM40 miter finder for one, and there are several off shore smaller ones popping up in tool stores. I use the bosch a lot for hanging crown moulding and installing baseboards- anywhere I need to know what an angle is.

There is also an item called a "smart level" on the market, or it used to be several years back. I have one, but I really don't use it, as I just can't bring myself to trust it - too much movement before the digital numbers change.

A good carpenter can get pretty darn close with a bubble level! like anything else, pay attention to detail. Last outfit that I worked for insisted that we use a builders level for anything over 4'. It wasn't fast, but it sure was accurate.

good luck!

I have a digital protractor / level that I use for measuring hand rail angles. I don't know how you can improve on it , unless it will show up on time, install the rail (correctly) and put all my tools back in the truck.
Oh, sorry about that, sometimes I space out.
