Dewalt Nano Batteries

Chevy,
$65 is a great price. I never pay more than $65 myself & I own eight nanos. I had one go bad & I swapped it out with no questions asked. Excellent batteries in my opinion.

the nano batteries are based off of A123 lifepo4, lithium iron phosphate. A123 was the company bidding for the chevy volt battery, but I think they lost. Their batteries are the cream of the crop. Do a google search for A123 lifepo4, they're really popular batteries because of their power to weight ratio, reliability, and safety.

the reason, the price remains kinda high is because a lot of enthusiasts buy dewalt batteries and use it for their electric gadgets.

These Nano batteries haven't been out long enough to be out of warranty. Bring them into the DeWalt dealer. Most likely, they won't even ask to see a receipt & will just give you another battery.

Actually I meant regular 18v, the NiCd or whatever they are. Someone mentioned voltman earlier in the thread.

Do the nano batteries work in older tools like the xrp stuff?

I've used an 18V XRP for 6 years (on its last legs) and put it through hell. Its only on its second set of batteries! though this set is fading now. Here is how to get mileage out of Dewalt batteries.

Never ever leave the batteries in the sun.
Run em dead
Always charge till full
Trickle charge them on a regular basis, 24 hrs

True story: Left the lights on while I went into Lowes once, weak battery in van went dead. Rather than wait on someone to jump it I hooked up both drill batteries to the van, cranked that puppy right up. Chevy 350 V8

I just had 4 batteries rebuilt by West Coast Battery Builders for $42 bucks apiece.

They are supposed to be better then the originals according to them.

We haven't found that to be the case. My guys said they think they need to be recharged earlier then any of our other batteries.

I've called them 3 times to talk to them about this, but they never answer the phone, just voicemail.

Can't recomend them.

Well then I will see if someone has some experience with voltman and stay way from WCBB.

Good thing you had a gasser, I can't imagine them doing so with the high compression of a diesel requiring many more CA's.

The Nano batteries fit all XRP tools & you will never go back to XRP batteries once you try the Nanos. I used my last XRP batteries for my lantern only because they were so heavy it made it hard to tip over. However, you will need a different charger (which will also work on XRP batteries).
Like I've said before; careful shopping on Ebay will net you Nano batteries for what most people pay for XRP batteries.

Why? I am up to eleven of them & only one had to be switched out. It sure beats having to wait for the XRP's to cool down before recharging. Also, my old tools feel like new ones with these batteries.

Is it me or did they just rebrand the 18v Nano's as Lithium Ion XRP. Is it a different battery or did they just put a new sticker on it?

I own 18V Nanos (2007) and 18V Li XRPs (2009). They seem to be identical except for the new Li XRP sticker. The Lithium batteries fit and rejuvenate all of my older Dewalt 18V NiCad power tools. The Lithium batteries are more compact and look a bit funny on the older tools but attach securely. Be sure to use the Lithium charger for the Nano batteries.
