Dewalt Drill Driver Cuts In And Out

trying to figure out what's wrong and if it's an 'easy' fix. My dewalt cordless drill (18v) cuts in and out. Doesn't matter if I have it in Fwd or Rvs, partial trigger pull or full trigger pull, it cuts in and out randomly. First guess is the trigger switch...can they be purchased inexpensively?

Re: Dewalt Drill Driver Cuts In And Out

is it making an electrical type of odor? Or just clean and simple cutting in and out....any odor at all?

www.toolpartsdirect.com

Look at the brushes too.

Also, I glanced at the schematic and the trigger assembly costs $60 FWIW

check the batt terminals in side the drill to make sure the will make good contact when batt is inserted. ZI just had the same situation on mine so i checked inside the drill handle, And one set of terminals was spread apart making for a loose connection. A quick and free fix.

A panasonic drill is the best fix.

Re: Dewalt Drill Driver Cuts In And Out

yes, I also found new trigger assembly's, but at $60-70 to my door, I'm close to the cost of a new drill off ebay (minus batteries). I'm going to pull it apart and check out the switch and brushes.

Re: Dewalt Drill Driver Cuts In And Out

My Dewalt impact driver lost it's variable speed control. I was working in an attic when a water pipe burst & the drill was soaked. It is amazing that I was still able to still use the drill (sans speed control). Fortunately, it was still under warranty & they asked me no questions (& I volunteered nothing!).

Try cleaning your battery terminals with a small wire brush.
