Danner Quary boots not as good as I thought
My Danner Quarry boots have not even lasted a year! I don't want to buy a new pair of boots for 200 bucks every year. Lookin for some suggestions for boots that will really last without breaking the bank. I do just about everything when it comes to work.

Georgia giant boots are terrific, no too costly for good boots. I also use Doc Martens for walking and working in if I don't need high top boots. I get them on ebay.

I wear a set of redwings now, and my last set were chippewas.
The chipps lasted quite a few years, and Ive had the redwings since early summer and they are holding up 100%
I dont have anything bad to say about either one of them. Great boots

Redwing Boots
The better quality Made in the USA Redwings are great boots and have held up really well for me. The 2264 Steel Toe Comfort Force Red Wings are the Most Comfortable boots I've ever worn. They felt broke in the first day I started wearing them.

What happened to them?
Most of the Danners that I have seen are very well built, but I cannot wear them.
I wear Redwings because of my narrow feet. And some of them have barely lasted a worn year (2 years, 6 months a year), but I am very rough on some of my boots. I usually have 3 pairs of Redwings that I wear through the year, a heavy insulated Goretex waterproof boot, a lighter weight waterproof, and a non-insulated summer boot.
But I don't have a problem with spending $200 to $300 a year for a boot. It is well worth it if you have happy feet.

Stitching came apart on the flap for the laces at the end toward to toe. Had the repaired and now the leather there ripped. Danner have always been good for me too, I dunno what the deal was with these ones. When work picks up more and my business is more etablished then I would not have a problem with spending that much on boots every year. Right now I am mostly working hourly for an investor/developer I know and am trying to build up my own good supply of tools.

I know a few guys who get 1 year plus from their work boots, but I have never had that kind of luck, doing work from digging trenches to shingling roofs to pressure washing and shoveling snow, etc etc etc. They tend to look and smell like long before that year is up . IMO if you really do "everything" in those boots, your expectations might be a little too high; I have recently dropped the full leather work boot in favor of a couple of "good" quality gore-tex hikers. Have a work pair for the nasty and a newer pair for walking across your customers' carpets

This boot poll seems to come up on a fairly regular basis, and it always ends up with Redwing as the clear winner. Nathan should get them to advertise on this site. I don't wear Redwing's myself, but with all the recommendations from guys on this site over the years, I just might get a pair for my next boots.

ive had problems with J.B. Goodhue boots, their comfortable but after 6 months they fall apart, 2 pairs!!
as for good boots, ive havent tried redwings a friend bought a pair and 3 months later the soles were completely worn out.
lately im having good luck with Dakota's, they make a line of composite toe which is lighter, doesnt conduct the cold and start around $150

I bought a pair of Redwings after seeing a past post on this site.
Can't say I am thrilled with them. They are comfy but I will be lucky if I get more than a year and a half outta them. The soles wear out too fast and to resole is almost a new pair anyways.
I am hard on boots too and do everything in them just about every day.
Not sure what I am going with next.
