Custom Air Hoses
Guys:
Anyone have any positive experiences with adding your own fittings to air hoses? I need to make some custom hoses for my shop. I've used the barbed type and I don't trust the hose clamps they require. I've seen references to push-to-connect fittings but I haven't used them. Any thoughts? Thanks. |

Re: Custom Air Hoses
When I worked in a body shop we used to repair the hoses with a kit that crimped on the fittings just like the factory did.... it was something along these lines

you can shorten the flexeel hoses and reuse the fittings, I did this when i punctured a hose.

Re: Custom Air Hoses
flexeel hoses also use compression fittings, so they are very easy to repair.

Re: Custom Air Hoses
barb type repair fittings work fine on poly hoses,on rubber thoughthe hose will develope a air bubble over time resuting in cutting a few inchs off and redoing the fittings
i have a hose thats about 30feet that started life at 50 feet due to this,i just use it as a leader hose

Re: Custom Air Hoses
Thanks, everyone, for the responses. I'm going to try Push-connect fittings from Poweraire.com to plumb the air system in the shop. They seem to have a good selection and prices are reasonable. I'm also planning to pick up one of those flexeel hoses that everyone is using for use on the job. Thanks again.
