Crew Charger

ANybody seen one of these? I thought it was kinda cool at first glance.
Charges batteries in 15 minutes^
Charges any major brand of power tools
Detects 12V and 18V automatically, charges both
Automatically Detects Ni-MH, Ni-CD or Li-Ion batteries, charges all 3 Safely
Extends battery life, detects bad batteries
Allows more charges before replacement
Charges under hot and cold conditions

Those slots where the batteries sit are removable and replaceable with different brands of companies batteries and color coded. Yellow for Dewalt... etc... So I guess if you are on the site and are running milwaukee tools you throws yours in the color coded red one.

This thing is bigger than it looks in the picture, about the size of a metal trash can lid.

Would something like this actually be useful?

Maybe to guys who have a hodge-podge of tools. I think most people who've gotten serious have pretty much standardized on one brand and voltage.

Re: Crew Charger

How much is it?

I can seeing it being extremely useful on high rise work, both new and renovation, when they are remodeling whole floors at a time.

Re: Crew Charger

Damn, From the title, I thought someone figured a way to charge up my crew.

The charger looks to be more trouble than it's worth. Just use the standard chargers that come with the tools. Sit them side by side if you want.

Re: Crew Charger

I saw one in person a couple of weeks ago. At first, I was ready to buy one on the spot, then the rep told me the price which DID NOT INCLUDE the brand adapters which are required for use.

I don't remember exactly, but it was about $279 or so.

Way too expensive for what it does. My bet is that is fizzles out unless they cut the price drastically

Re: Crew Charger

I'm with you on this one Greg, I don't quite 'get' it.

Who's the market for this thing? Who is supposed to be buying this if it's basically a gang charger for the 'gang' to use? One of the gang? Or a GC for his gang, I just don't get it.

$279 is cheap (relatively), I saw it for $400 in the store. It looks like it should be $199 max!

Re: Crew Charger

I would probably buy one if the cost was drastically lower.

Re: Crew Charger

They had one of these at a home show put on by one of the local builders supply stores here. It didn't seem all that useful, and it felt kinda cheaply made, particularly for the price.
