Re: Compressor Talk -
hey mike, just wondering if you ever did buy a new compressor.
i am on the fence about the PC jobboss. i like the CFM rates but the reviews have all said it's noisy and rattles like it's going to fall apart. not sure if they are just DIY HO's just not used to the noise of a compressor or if it's really that much louder than others. the cost of gas right now is too high to be running my emglo. let me know which one you bought and if you have had any issues with it. |

Re: Compressor Talk -
i've never seen one of those in person, how does that removable thing work, the panel comes off and then you leave the tank/compressor part behind. how far can you put the control panel from the compressor?
maybe a hose section gets put in the length you wanna go out? just curious. i don't mind the noise that much. i put the compressor around a corner or somewhere where we can't hear it and just run an extra length of hose. |

Re: Compressor Talk -
Ive got the twin tank makita and it is the best compressor ive ever used or seen. Its quiet and has more than enough capacity for any kinda nail gun you could want to run off of it.

Re: Compressor Talk -
Add another for the jobboss. I bought mine to replace a homebrew one I made and it's been a great replacement. Not the lightest but easy for one man to load in and out of a truck. Keeps up with all the tools I've run on it. Best advice if you get it, take of the top panel screws and put them back with loctite and foam between the panel and the frame. Either that or drill all the way through and replace the screws with bolts and nuts. That top protective panel is the only thing that would rattle on mine.

Re: Compressor Talk -
Why not get a compressor that can handle the load, and then some.. so you don't have to upgrade again next year? Then get the extra wide reinforced hose and leave the compressor outside and run the houses inside? If you need to you can get a 3 way splitter cheap at home doepot and run 3 hoses no problem. It makes no sense to bring equipment inside that you don't need to. That'd be like bringing a generator inside when you can simply run an extension cord.
We used an electric porter cable pancake compressor and ran one hose to the roof where we split off 3 lines. The compressor cycled alot when we were on an open field but was almost always able to deal with 3 guys slamming the squares. |

Re: Compressor Talk -
Rol-air makes a real good super-reliable compressor, a lot like emglo used to before the whole emglo-dewalt thing. I hammer the heck out of my tools, have a lot of guys working for me that do even worse. The rol-air is a performer.
Regardless of brand, stay away from depot or Lowes for any purchase, and if your looking for a long lasting compressor, oil less is not the answer. |

Re: Compressor Talk -
i was looking at compressors again today. still deciding on the jobboss, or the 4.5 gallon rigid which has better CFM ratings than the jobboss. i put off buying one for a while now. figured id come back and see what you guys thought.
gas is too expensive to be running my emglo wheelbarrow whenever we need air. ive never bought an electric one before. anyone own any rigid compressors? |

Apgar; For what it is worth; I bought that PC Jobboss comp cause of its great reading specs. The first one lasted 2 weeks using ONE framing gun, the steel line running to the tanks blew out of the fittings, Lowes replaced it, I returned the second one in a little over a week. The main issue is this; for some unknown reaso they both cycled so much thae ran almost constantly! No BS one damn PC coil nailer on the line and 4 nails yes 4 and the compressor cycled! I am using a Hitachi 2 hp, 4 gal rated at 4.4 cfm instead of the 6 cfm of the PC and it eats it lunch! I am hugh PC tool person but this one is a real POS.

Re: Compressor Talk -
Skymaster,
I've got 4 (all different sized) PC compressors and they've all worked fine for the (ranging from) 4 to 7 years I've owned 'em. Advice, - - don't buy tools from the box stores, - - they're usually either dumbed-down, returned, or some combination thereof . . . |

Tom; You may have a good point. PC compressors used to be Emglo until B&D bought em out, thats why yours are so good :} Now they are De Villbis and some of them are very questionable.
Also note that onlu us NJ folks are talkin compressors, guess the rest of the world hasn,t discovered em yet LOL LOL. OMG think using a hammer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????/ :}:}:}:}:} never got rid of mine. Havent been in ur neck of da woods in years. JackM |

Re: Compressor Talk -
I know we are talking higher production compressors here but I just bought this one about 3 months ago so I thought I would share. I love it, so does my back.
Only for trim, But it is super light, small, and quiet as a church mouse. It does take a while to intially build pressure about 1 1/2 min. but I've gotten over that. When I say it's only for trim I mean it. You might get one framing nail to fire then it's a 1 1/2 min wait all over again, I think, have'nt really tried to be honest. Excellent for small jobs.

Re: Compressor Talk -
I use to own a Ingersol Rand twin tank comp. and it was the best I have ever used. Maybe someone else has had more experience with one of these and could fill ya in.

Re: Compressor Talk -
Just poking around and found this one... If you need to carry it a lot this may be the way to go. Personally I bolted mine in my trailer and just run hoses to it. Then I dont have to listen to it run.
