Compressor Advice
I currently have a Makita 5200 compressor and hate it with a passion. Two days ago (about 25-30 degree's) we plugged it in and it turns on and won't build any pressure. This is the 8th time in 2 years its gone down. When it runs its a great unit. I do alot of siding, roofing, and framing. At one time I will run 2 framers, or 3 roofers, or 3 siders. What compressor would you buy?

Re: Compressor Advice
I will never go back to a wheel barrow style compressor after getting my Quincy QT-5. Its mounted to the frame of my trailer cause it weighs a ton with is 100 gal tank and massive 3 stage 220v motor. That thing cranks over just as well at -10F as it does 110F.
Got water traps and lead hoses' dispersed into "air bubble" tanks around my job. I have ran around 20 pnematic tools at the same time on a big condo job we did once. For small job's I do keep a twin tank BULL around though. That thing hates the cold. Ingersol Rand makes some good ones to!! |

Sorry to hear, but you don't need a new compressor. It means there is something wrong and it needs something replaced. I have a mac5200 and a mac2400 and they run like the wind. There have also been multiple threads with many others verifying that these are great compressors for the money. I would take it to a Makita service center to have it looked at. |
