Is there a market for a Festool rehab center?
One where everything is painted Makita Blue, DeWalt yellow, Milwakee Red, Ridgid orange and green is not allowed?

Or atleast have clips so you can attatch it to a stack of systainers...I ordered a few more and now if it doesn't fit in a systainer or clip to a systainer I don't want it.

Re: Christmas In October!!!

Looks like a sweeet set up, i still think you will need a 12" for tall base, its just faster to cut standing up on the fence!

im still working on trying to put a scratch on the makita, but i see a kapex in the future when i set up a shop!

Good luck warner and keep us posted thru the 30 day trail!

....I think it can cut tall base....that is the newest thing with the 10" saws, they can cut over 5 1/2" inches at the fence...

Re: Christmas In October!!!

No, on the fence they can only cut 4 3/4" tall enough to cut cabinet base but not 5 1/4" wall base!

thats why i kept my dw716(non sliding) it cuts 6 3/8" standing up against the fences, and the light cast a perfect shadow cut line better than a laser!

The kapex is a great saw for working with a vac, i do way to much production cabinet installs and trim to carry a vac around!

But today it was pouring rain out and im working inside a finished home, all i was thinking of was running to force machinery and grabbing a kapex!!

It Looks like a Sweet saw for long term indoor work!

Re: Christmas In October!!!

Yes, I lose some height cutting at the fence.

Its max cut depth in the special position is 120mm (4 23/32")

Nested crown capacity is 6 5/8".

I did some testing last night and found out the saw is approximatley 1/128" off in a full 12" slide cut. Way better than my Bosch, no matter what I did.

It is pretty much designed to be used with a vac, which is fine since mine is always with me. I guess it made sense, since I am pretty much replacing everything with Festool. It fits in to thier 'system' flawlessly.

I want to reduce my extra walking/trips to the saw. I dont find it cumbersome at all to take my vac with me, it's part of my set-up anyways.
Bring the saw to the work, not the work to the saw.

Did I mention it weighs like 45 pounds!!

The angle transfer thing is awesome, and the foot print is tiny, even can be pushed back against a wall.

Most tall base I deal with is at least 7", so no go on cutting it upright anyways. Usually multi-piece as well.

Re: Christmas In October!!!

Update.

So far, I am thrilled. My back thanks me everytime I move this saw, lightweight and very small foot print.

I have done 3 wonky, wavy, whacky crown jobs in small cut-up rooms.

8-10 corners, multiple returns and full wraps. I measured each length and angle, cut each piece, pre assembled some on my table and then installed all at once. I made no adjustment cuts, except my last piece in each room (planned that way). Filled nail holes and caulked ceiling joint.

Average time per room, including set-up and break down, 2 1/2 hours.

I had a very small issue with the saw. I think it was kind of picky myself but, it was 1300 bills just for the saw.
The right laser would toe-in after I transported the saw, take a few minutes to dial it in but, I didnt feel I should have to do that.

In a matter of 2 casual conversations and about 2 days I had a new saw delieverd to me. This one's lasers stay in adjustment. You say, oh lasers suck, not on this saw. They eliminate sneaking up on the cut. Make a small pencil mark, or a tick mark with your knife, line it up with the laser and presto!!! Perfect everytime.

Thanks Festool for putting your customers first

Looks good warner, I like that wood insert idea. I may give that a try on my makita, I'm thinking the plastic is too thin though.
