Can NR83A2 Handle 8's

It's between the Hitachi NR83A2 or the redesigned Paslode Framemaster, due this spring. I hear so many good reviews about the Hitachi but some complaints that 8's won't advance without jamming. Any information much appreciated.

I've never used an NR83 with that specific problem, I will say however, that the newer NR83's I've used have had many other jambing problems. If buying new, I would actually recommend the NR90, even the cheap AE version over the newer NR83, because in my experience, the NR90's are more reliable. I have the NR90AC, and I personally would consider it the best gun out there.

Perhaps this topic has been talked to death; hence the reticence. I guess with the advent of full round head, paper taped nails now available, the use of such guns as the new Paslode, will become more acceptable and popular among framers. Regards, Bob
I tried tro post a URL to new Paslode but was forbidden as I haven't posted 15 times yet (sad face)

I usually have problems with ring shanks only, not smoothies.

Seems that the Hitachi gets high marks but has one weak link - the nail magazine, which allows the second nail strip to ride up on the first, causing jams. You'd think Hitachi, or any other manufacturer of plastic collated nail guns, would address the problem instead of just letting consumers live with it.

It's not the magazine, it's the nails or the upkeep of your tools. The collation is usually the culprit on mine. I've never used paper ones, only plastic. I've noticed the cheaper brands, the plastic is not manufactured the best. Ring shank nails seem to all have this problem for some reason. The Senco nails seem to do well.

I've shot millions of nails through my guns and an occasional jam is nothing to make the decision on. Hitachi is a great gun.

The Hitachi may be the best full round head nailer out there. Very reliable. Most jamming issues are usually caused by the nails. Get a good nail other than the occasional jam, it shouldn't be an issue. DuoFast offers a new round head paper nail if preferred.
