Bosch Multi X

Anybody use have one of these yet ? Looks like the same thing as the Fein multimaster that I read so much about on this site but it is half the price.

Re: Bosch Multi X

I don't have one, but it's been discussed here. Dremel and Rockwell have introduced corded versions too. I have the Rockwell and like it a lot. I've never used the Fein, so I can't compare it to the best in class.

Re: Bosch Multi X

ive used the fein, handy little rig but $400 for the tool is a bit much. i guess the accessories are very pricey too

if the price comes down id get one,

I have the Bosch and I love it. However, the battery does not last long sanding. The tool has become a major time saver.

Re: Bosch Multi X

I have used both the Bosch and Fein and the Fein wins. It seems to have more grunt and even though they are pricey the release of the other versions are forcing them to be more competitive. I am sure some clever person could rig an attachment so that the Fein could take the cheaper priced Bosch attachments...

Would you believe that I have been to the site several times in the last few weeks and not even noticed that he had made an adaptor? Cheers for that.

Greg, some people are slow, that is like the tenth time you posted that. Geesh people, letters make words, words make sentences, left to right, top to bottom. Advil for any head aches, midol for cramps.

Sorry, I just had too.

Well, I have to do something quasi-productive around here!

I stopped yelling at new posters last year, so there isn't so much to do. Mike Finley took over the job.

Re: Bosch Multi X

I've had a Fein tool for several years now. Would not part with it for it's versatility. True, blades can be spendy, but often make it for the time they save.

I Bought a bunch of Dollar store five ways and heavy blade putty knives, then removed the handles and cut the knives in half. I then used a step bit and punched arbor holes in them. They make great scrapers.

I save my old blades and do rough sharpenings on them. I don't feel bad using them in mean jobs.

I bought some minature circular saw blades at Harbor Frieght and use those for certain jobs.

When I kill on of my hook-and-loop pads from too much heat, I cut them down to special shapes and use the for specialty sanding heads.

Re: Bosch Multi X

I saw the Rockwell Sonicrafter at the Woodworking Show in Baltimore two week ago. It appears to be very similar and very popular at the show. The tool has a couple of different packages but the base price was around $100 - $120 I think.

Ironically, the Rockwell stand was set up less than 25 away from the Fein stand.

Re: Bosch Multi X

The only problem I can see with the Rockwell, is finding replacement blades. You can get the Dremel Multi-Max blades at the Home Depot.
