Is Bosch Ever Going To Get Serious About Lithium
I've been holding out for years using mismatched cordless tools waiting for Bosch to get their act together and release 18 volt lithium cordless lineup.
My crappo Makita lithium drill and impact are both self destructing almost simultaneously after 2 years of use which is going to force my hand on a cordless purchase. DeWalt cordless tools suck as far as durability from my experience. Makita cordless tools suck as far as durability from my experience. Is Bosch ever going to get serious about lithium or should I just try a different brand? Milwaukee or Rigid would be my next try I guess. |

Re: Is Bosch Ever Going To Get Serious About Lithium
Bosch has the 36V Litheon series that is second to only Hilti. They aren't going to do anything with the 18, but they have a strong place in the 36V.

Re: Is Bosch Ever Going To Get Serious About Lithium
Bosch Cordless tools are tremendous in my opinion.... they're li-ion 10.8v, comprised of the 3 drivers and the 36volt which is just a mean tool.... I think Bosch is one of the bigger players in the Li-Ion World...
18V like Xanadool said isnt really where they have excelled at... |

Re: Is Bosch Ever Going To Get Serious About Lithium
I had the 36volt drill which I bought at a show for $160. This was right when they came out and I was able to sell it on ebay for over double what I payed. I prefer their little 10.8volts (especially the impact).

Re: Is Bosch Ever Going To Get Serious About Lithium
I like the ps40 from bosch, but my cordless will remain Makita until someone can do better...and I don't see that anytime soon.

Re: Is Bosch Ever Going To Get Serious About Lithium
There was an article in Contractor Tools and Supplies and the guy at Bosch said they were launching a 18V LI this Fall.

And...if Bosch's PS40 is a sign of things to come, I think they are going to rule the cordless market. All they have to do is repeat that success.

Re: Is Bosch Ever Going To Get Serious About Lithium
Bosch is a German company and concentrates on the better quality lines. The Europeans will pay the money and are more demanding than the American market that is dilured by the DIY brands and versions.
They will be here when they decide it is worth the support.

Re: Is Bosch Ever Going To Get Serious About Lithium
I've seen a lot of cordless Bosch being replaced with other Crappo tools. Bosch makes good tools but as far as durability their cordless hasn't changed the market yet. There is a catch 22 with durability and good tools, very few people are willing to pay for good tools, yet they complain about quality. I've been around tool repair for a while now, and many tools that break are not taken care of very well. If you get 2 hard years out of cordless that is money well spent. Especially since 90% of contractors are not using their cordless tools in the proper appilcation. Mixing mud with 18V cordless, using their cordless for all concrete applications, etc. Right tool for the right job goes a long way in determining the lifetime of a tool.
