chestnut clamps

Hi just got the clamps today, cut some scrap up quickly and put a biscuit in each corner, going to use for archs but could make a door at a push. these clamps have been made in tiwan, bit of a bugger whan Jim Chestnut invented them, got my mag 77 from USA, cost 70 dollars air freight plus tax, was well worth it, none for sale over here at all, but cant blame me buying a copy, only ordered Sunday night

Hi Steve.C

Hi, I have bought 2 Mag 77, from woodworkers supply , Alburquerque, New Mexico. Find them on line, E Mail Clay Taylor, he will give you the cost plus carriage, they work out about £175 all in. this includes the Vat that the carrier hits you for about 2 weeks after you have your saw, one took about 2 days to come the other about 4 days, things have a habbit of going up in price so be prepared. I have bought very thin saw blades freud Diablo DO724X these have a Diamond shaped hole in the middle and cut through wet wood like a knife through butter.
The blade is on the opposite side to other UK power saws, making it like a powered hand saw, they are fantastic, people over her just dont know what they are missing. Give me a ring and you can have a go with one 0161 442 0381

Hi summertime, how do you go on with the voltage on the Mag 77, I presume they are 120, so do you run it off a transformer ? Also really like the look of the Festool saw and guide, I'm mostly looking to cut MDF/ply for cupboards and stuff, also worktops. Which one do you reckon would be the best buy ?
Thanks mate.

summertime, thanks very much for your kind offer which i might take you up on.i have a dilemma when it comes to buying tools at the moment, see i have wad of money from doing a "foriegnier" and its burning a hole in my pocket.my dilemma is 1:buy a Fein multymaster(got to replace some glass at my mates )2:buy a framing nailgun(always used my work partners) 3:buy mag 77 saw,
my sensible head says forget the saw as between me and my partner we have 5 circular saws of different sizes and voltage, but ive read some great reports on these saws.irl have to have a think about it.
cheers steve.
ps nick ,ive got the dewalt cordless finishing nailer imported from usa.i just snipped their plug off and replaced with our 110v plug not had any probs.

Festool, Mag 77

Hi Nick, I work for a property developer there fore all site voltage is 110 volts, I would not buy anything else, could not use it on site.
The festool 55 is real nice to work with, I have cut joints with it, rebated oak doors etc, lots of kitchen fitters have this one, about £100 pounds cheaper, but in my oppinion its 1200 watt motor does not eat the work , you cannot put a new blade in every day.
The 75 has a 1600 watt motor, is a lot heavier, but if production work is undertaken on site, this is my choice, on Wes Browns house, we cut up 90 8ft by 4ft moisture resistant 3/4in boards for walk in clossets and wardrobes, as I said I use it like a slidding table pannel saw
