Bosch 12 dual mitre saw, transport lock wont hold? commen problem?

i have a fairly new bosch 12" dual bevel mitre saw, non sliding. My problem is the lock which holds the motor/blade housing down when transporting will not stay locked, even the slightest bump causes it to open back up which isn't good. awesome saw i wouldnt have bought if it werent but this is sort of annoying, has anyone else had this problem

for now i have 2 bungee cords holding it down while its in my car, could this be bad for the saw or ok to let go for a while

you don't want it bouncing around, not good for it in the long run. I had a makita that gave me that trouble. If it's a push pin type lock down, make sure there isn't saw dust stuck in the hole making the pin not go in all the way.

no its, no dust from what i can see, i clean off my big gear before reloading it in my car at the end of the day 1) to keep dust build up from clogging them and 2) to make cleaning the car a little easier

Just checked my 12" Bosch slider and I dont know what to tell you other than to call Bosch, If you bought it recently than they will take care of it for you. I had 2 different Makita's shear that same pin.

awww crap, now i have another problem with my saw, the last few times ive had it out when changing the angle (left 45 to a right 45) ive heard scraping against the mitre table. so then on sat night i was setting up the new saw stand i bought and attaching the mounting brackets. in the process i saw 2 little black metal clip like pieces fall to the floor, didnt think anything of it

but today i was installing some base and i come to notice that when i went to lock in my angle by tightening the knob every turn would cause the angle to go 1 degree to the right. one clip is missing the other in my pocket. I went to the store i bought it at back in june to ask them what their warrenty is. they said 30 days. (not too mention they no longer carry my model). anyhow, there is a bosch repair centre they should be good for honoring the 3 year bosch warrenty correct?

Your still under the 1 year warranty, which if I remember completley gets you a special perk or something. I could be wrong though, I think the saws (mitre and table) might only be a one year warranty. Mine is almost up on my 12" Slider, really like that saw. Trying to figure out a way to make a rubber throught on it to help direct the dust up and out into an extractor.

well, i was given the afternoon off to get healthy do to having the flu, so i took the saw to the repair centre, they looked at it kinda confused as to how to get in at whats broken, and they did say its under a year, and depending on how much work is involved and how much the parts are gonna be, bosch may say "complete replacement" which wont bother me one bit.

my two concern is how much downtime will there be as i have a trim job 90% complete just waiting for the cabinet guy to finish his install so i can go back to install a few pieces of base in the kitchen. and the other thing is will they send away my saw with the stand mounting brackets still attached, just bought the stand i dont wanna lose my brackets. ( this could happen, had things like this happen before)

Were the pieces that fell from your saw not metal but a really hard black plastic? I ask this because on my 4410l there are two black bushings which space the table from the base so it can rotate without grinding metal.

My 5412 would make a grinding noise....I looked under the table and it was just four screws on the table that worked their way loose, they were rubbing on the base...I tighted them up and all was new again....take a look down there...
