Black And Decker Drill

Hey all, new to the forums here and had a question about getting a drill. I figured who better to ask than the pros.
Anyways, here's the deal, a good buddy of mine has that B&D 24V drill, he's had it just under 2 years I believe. Anyways, he builds decks for a living and back when he bought this thing someone had stolen his DeWalt set, so he had to go out and just grab something quick to finish up a job he was on. He said it's not as good as his DeWalt was, but he's been using it daily and said he's had no trouble with it since he bought it.

So here's the thing, I'm in the market for a 2nd drill, and I've literally read nothing but terrible reviews about the B&D's. Did my friend just get completely lucky and come across one of these that was built fairly decent? Or are these things not quite as bad as alot of people make them sound?
