Best Wrecking Bar Ever?

Had some heavy bathroom demo today. Tile from the floor to the ceiling.
Cast Iron tub. 2" mud bed on the walls w/ 3" of mud on the floors. All of this is tied together w/ metal lathe.

I know all of this before we start as I already remodeled their master bath.

Or course the wall on the other side of the studs was drywall w/ a plaster coating of at least 1/4", and a "high end" faux finish paint job that the HO loves.

I stopped at B,Lowes to pick up some PPE. I strolled through the hammer isle looking for inspiration. Bostitch has had a bunch of new tools there for a while now and I figured they were all garbage.

I picked up the 36 and the 24 wrecking bars and I gotta say that these things are great!! Great balance, feel good in the hands, nice broad head for better leverage. I was pulling down large chunks of the tile and mud like I didn't think would be possible. Not even a single nail pop on the other side of the wall.

Finished the whole bathroom today by myself. This bar saved me a few hours work today. Just thought I'd share. If you don't have one, get one. Well worth the $20.

That's a copy of these from Lee Valley. These are made in Sweden and are fantastic.

I like the looks of those. My best bars so far have been the long estwing bars, and the big flat "wonder" bar. One of my guys bought one of those fubars a while back, and I can't stand using that thing. I look forward to trying that Bostitch out.

Josh - I have the same ones, except when it was made just by Stanley - great all around demo tools.

I also have a fubar, and only use the tweaker on it to tweak joists/rafters. I don't know what happened to my dedicated tweaker and cheater bar.

Who would have thought a $60 crow bar could work so well?

Anymore, every time I touch a demo bar, I instantly get blisters and cramp up.

They just dont fit my hands all that well anymore.

Re: Best Wrecking Bar Ever?

I have a kit of bars but for removing tile and the board in back of it I think of cutting the wall and using the bar to removing the whole wall at once. heck I'v used everything from a 4" grinder to a hot saw to cut the wall, pry it off the studs and have someone there to help to haul it away.

The Russian at our shop today broke a pinch bar made out of 1-1/2 hex stock tool steel trying to remove a cylinder from a hydraulic lift, he wedged the pinch bar in between the platform and the cylinder and then used a fork lift to push the lever. The piece that broke off embedded itself in a cinder block wall.
