Best Price For Harness And Safety Line?
I have a job coming up that initally I was going to use a boom trailer to get over the lower level business awning and upto the second floor windows we're replacing, but price skeered me, looked into a scissor lift, but even with the extension platform all the way out it's short of spanning the awning and reaching the big concrete ledge below window sills.
So stopped by jobsite to get final look see and now the snows all gone I see there is plenty of room to stand on the concrete ledge approx 16" below window sill which is about 14" wide. Now the game plan has changed since I can reach tops of windows standing on ledge to just get a body harness and run the safety line through the opening and lag the bracket into the floor joist (apartments totally gutted under resoncstruction so lags wont mess with anything) Stopped by the home center and seen a kit for $179.99 and hate to spend that much for a 1 day use since I've never used one to date and cant forsee it being a worth while investment at that level. I'm a tool whore, but I think I need to draw the line on this one since harness is too big for my 4yr old to strap into and swing from the trees to offset the investment of my one time use. any links or stores to look for besides homecenter would be appreciated. Josh, I have been shopping for a couple safety harnesses for my upcoming casino job. Watch for them on ebay. Plenty to be had in the $30 - $65 range. If your lucky, you can find one with a tie-off/lanyard included. Miller makes one that is very comfortable, if I recall correctly, it was called a duraflex.
Check out this one, better get it before I do. Here is one with a lanyard. Last edited by ProWallGuy; 01-25-2006 at 02:13 PM. |

Just make sure to buy new. You don't get a chance to inspect a used unit off eBay and I'd hate to spend $30-$50 for a used one that ends up being dangerous. Just be safe, buy it new (store or eBay) and factor the cost into the job.

Re: Best Price For Harness And Safety Line?
Robert, I have no intentions of trying it out to see if it works or not
but the point is taken and I think I'll just pick up the new one locally when I get material...city just called back stating I have to build a 8' tall privacy fence under area we'll be working to stop pedestrians from getting hit with debris so I'll just throw it on the tab as wellAlready had $150 figured in for lift until further inspection so only truely spending $30 more to play tarzan. Maybe I'll try sum mission impossible and bust through the first floor glass window and tell everybody to "get down"!!!! thanks for the links, dont know why i did'nt think ebay?/ I gotta buncha crap for sale on there right now |

Re: Best Price For Harness And Safety Line?
I've got two Miller kits. The Miller rigs are the best and most confortable of all I've ever used. The "construction kit" has all the little pieces and parts that you'll need for most work. I got both of mine brand new, at two different times, on eBay. One kit I got for 20 bucks (wow) and the other for about 50. That's a several hundred dollar savings. We're required to use them for boom lift and bucket truck work. Some of our work also involves crawling around on the top racks of warehouse racking to run conduits and such. The Miller kits have a lanyard thing for attaching to the bar joists or whatever nearby.

Re: Best Price For Harness And Safety Line?
I use fall arrestor; they go for around 200 hundred for a kit. Very comfortable to wear compared to inexpensive harnesses. In most case it's the rope that costs the most money. But hey you can fight the harness all day if you want.
