Bench Dog Trim-Loc Casing Tool

Just wondering if anyone's used one of these.

http://www.benchdog.com/trimloc.htm

Is it worth $20?

For me - YES.

But ....
I am not a trim guy...I'm an electrician.

I got one like this:

....from Amazon a few years ago.
As I am doing some sort of solo, never-ending, not-in-sequence remodel at my own home, it has come in quite handy.

Re: Bench Dog Trim-Loc Casing Tool

I have one. Never used it. It has no value to anyone with a smattering of common sense.

I use a combo square to mark reveals.
I don't need anything more than my hands to hold molding in place while I nail it.
I can measure from a short point of a miter by hooking the saw table and flushing up the short point of the miter to my tape hook.

There...I just saved you the $20 I spent on the stupid thing that I probably can't even locate.

One of my finish subs took a piece of 1x, cut a dado the width of his reveal, put a cabinet knob on it and wham a reveal gauge thats A) easier than a combo square, and a LOT cheaper than this thing

I am not offended by your comment ....as you actually bought one, too.

LOL Celtic, do you think he was making an intentional personal attack?

Forgot about what? The home remodel? As in you haven't actually started ANY of the things she has asked you to do?

Re: Bench Dog Trim-Loc Casing Tool

Thanks for the feedback guys. I was looking at the tool thinking it'd be helpful for the windows that are wider than my arms width (picture windows and combos).

No attack intended at all. Someone bought it for me as a present and I thought it would be a slick little tool.

It's designed for people who are sub-DIY level.
