Battery powered nailers

I just saw one of these in action the other day - and it looks great for small jobs. Anyone got one? Like it / dislike it?

I'd appreciate any thoughts / recommendations before I purchase one. I typically go for DeWalt or Makita tools but would be interested in other recommendations.

Need it primarily for finish nailing (moulding, etc.)

Thanks!

Don't laugh but I have one of the b&d 12v nailers. It runs on the same batteries that my small impacts run on. I gotta say while it is light duty, I have used it quite a bit for punch out here and there. I hear the Dewalt 18v is a decent nailer but I can't justify the cost as I don't do a lot of finish work.

I bought the gun off of ebay brand new for $69 and it came with a batt and charger.

I have the dewalt angled and it is great for remodeling little too big of a head though.

Panzer5,
Which nailer are you referring to? Did you mean to send a web page, perhaps?

I don't have a battery powered nailer, but I do have 5 Impulse nailers from Paslode that are very dependable. Two of which are trim guns, one 16 ga. straight nailer and 1 16 ga. angled nailer. Three are framing guns. The fuel cells are different but the batteries are interchangable.

I've used both the battery and the gas nailers. IMO they're only usefull for punchout. No way I would use them trimming an entire house.
the impulse I have used were'nt reliable though. it was more aggervation then it was worth not having to pull out the cords and hoses.

In what sense were they too much trouble? I had one trim nailer that kept firing two nails and jamming. Before returning it, I tried filing the back of the drive pin on a slight bevel. The problem ceased and the gun hasn't skipped a beat since.

the jamming and misfiring was the problem, sounds like the same problem you had.

We have both Dewalt 18vt nailers, the 18ga and the 16ga. Nothing works better that I know of.

I have 3 paslodes. One is a framer and the other two are finish nailers. You can't beat the paslodes. The dewalt finish nailer is enormous and clunky.

I've tried the 18v Dewalts that the Dewalt rep had out at their booth at a home show. I was pretty surprised how well they worked. Considering that my cordless stuff is all Dewalt, I was thinking that they might be very useful.

This is about the 10th version of this thread. It's always the same.

Hey TempestV,
Google refurb DeWalt 18V nailers. Factory reconditioned w/ full warranty. I have two & they work great. They usually just come with a case, but every once in awhile they slip a charger or battery in the case. Great prices v.s new.

I got 3 paslode impulse framing nailers and 1 paslode cordless finish nailer and love them all. I have not had the opportunity to use any other brands but venture to say that they work well too or they would not be able to afford to market them.

Good luck

There will be a new cordless angled nailer coming out from Ridgid soon. I don't know much about about it, but I believe it's 18v and 15 ga, plus it looks more compact than the DeWalt. I'll probably buying one, I have a Paslode but this looks more convenient, no need to stock up on fuel cells, and no more stinking up the place with burnt butane.

Makita just came out with a 18v cordless stapler model BST221. I wouldn't be surprised if cordless nailers are next.

I bought a Dewalt 18 ga a while ago but I can't say much about it. My guy's took it and won't give it back. I guess I will have to buy another one and keep it hid. I think they really like it. When I get a chance to use it I will let you know.

I bought the Senco battery gun because I have Senco air guns and I did not want to buy two different kinds of nails. If I had it to do over I'd go with the Paslode.

Lol... you have forgotten that with enough marketing you can sell anything.

Seen any late night comercials for those penis pills that they keep selling? How about those late night commercials for real estate?
