Attention Masons

Heyall, just read a thread about Kobalt tools, and I talked about the Kobalt trowel being really decent. So, thought I would ask you other guys what types of tools you prefer...
Level Brand
Diamond Blade brand
Trowel Brand
Mixers???

We have been using the nice Johnson levels, but I think our next set of levels is going to come from Empire. The wood levels just dont seem to last long with mortar around, and plus, with the Empire's, you can change the tubes out. Have also been looking at Stabila levels....anyone use them? They have a deadblow on them made to hit with your trowels....sounds nice, but is it functional?

Our diamond blades come from a little supply shop thirty minutes from us. I can't remember the name of them, but they only run about 60 bucks and last us a half year on average. We'll make the drive to go get new ones.

As said on a previous post, we were using Rose trowels, but have switched over to Kobalt. They're pretty nice!

We currently use a MBW mixer, with the steel drum and 5.5 Honda. I wish now that we had gotten the poly drum, as I haven't heard anything negative about them.

And, I guess as long as we are talking about preferences, our favorite brand of bricks to work with are Robinson's, out of Colorado. Our only other choice down here for the most part is Boral, and man, those thing are glassy and brittle. Working with Robinson brick is like working with creamy butta! They cut nice, lay nice, and look great.

Anyone else got preferences?

Adrienne

Re: Attention Masons

We use Crick levels, very nice. I use a stainless steel trowel from Bon Tool, which they will replace no questions asked if there is a problem. Rose makes a nice trowel also. We run Stone mixers. As with anything in this trade, if you keep up with maintenence and keep the stuff clean it will treat you right.
