Anybody use/have the Bostich plasti cap gun?

Wind has been nasty here lately and figured it was a reason to buy a plasti cap nailer. I did'nt want to get a million dollar coil type since it's use is sparatic at best, so I went with the Bostich gun. Kind of nice since it's a crown stapler gun that has the bar on the side to load the plasti caps so I think I could use this gun as just a stapler only as well.

How has yours held up? any other problems I should be aware of other than going through caps and reloading staples often....think it only hold like 100 at a time.

Gonna give this one a good flogging tomorrow, installing 9 sq of synthetic roofing felt and wrapping a garage with Tyvek so we'll see if it's better than hand nailing platic caps LOL!!

I have 6 rolls of roll lath in the bus and use it when felt will sit awhile-which I hate doing if any form of mositure is coming-like all the rain we've been getting.

I've since sold myself on Typar's synthetic felt underlayment simply becasue it saves time laying down and is stronger than felt for walking on and water has no wrinkle effect at all on this stuff...hence the purchase of the plastic cap nailer to hold it no matter what nature can throw at us, and these gusty winds the past few days gonna need all the help we can get hopefully tomorrow ill be a calmer day, was fun setting trusses and sheeting the roof this afternoon...especailly when my brother tried standing a sheet up and bout got blow off the roof

We purchased a cap nailer earlier this summer and it works great for tar paper as well as housewrap. We also use it to hang foam on the house prior to siding. I am sure there are other uses we haven't discovered yet.

Just be careful when loading the discs into the gun as it doesn't take much to break the plastic string holding the stack together.

I have one, It sits in the trailer, I hate the damn thing. I would assume staple the underlayment down with a hammer tacker any day. I also think that the hammer tacker works better in high wind. Staple placement is key, if the wind cant get under the paper, it cant tear off the paper. Get the edges and seams good and you wont have any probs. The cap on the cap stapler obviously covers a much larger surface area, however, unless you have a huge wallet, you cant get the paper as flat as you can with a hammer tacker. Therefore the wind will still try and lift it off

We've ran quite a few loads of caps and staples through it since i bought it and so far I love the thing. Has'nt given us a bit of troubles and holds stuff down great!! We've had off and on rain lately so I've switched over completely to synthetic underlayment-Typar brand- since I never know wtf mother nature is gonna do from hour to hour. We've also had pretty steady high winds (10-30mph) and I've yet to have any troubles with this new combination of synthetic and plasti caps. I nail the over laps every 24" or so for good measure and this typar is 5' wide so I install 4 plasti caps from top to bottom every 3' or so roughly. Probably way overkill, but I never know what the weather is gonna do and neither does the weather man

Worked great on Tyvek also, holds much better than hammer staples though not as lightning fast, I do not have to worry about blow off's, ever, with these plasti caps-extreme holding power.

Just wished the capacity was larger since it will only hold 200 at a time of both staples and plastic caps, but loading is fast so I dont think too much of it really.

Getting more exposure with the synthetic underlayment (used about 5 rolls to date or 500sq of it), definately a different beast. Just like buidling wrap you have to "pull" it taunt prior to stapling down, and even then when the sun shines on it, it like to expand and wrinkle a bit. The last garage we did last week there were a few wrinkle I was questioning since they seemed big, but wanted to lay some shinlges to test it and as luck would have it no matter how big the wrinkle it never showed through, very forgiving in that aspect.

Best part is now that we're in the dewy season, it actually pulls itself taunter overnight and gets tackier with moisture. I hate being on roofs and have only started pushing them since adding man power and keeping more work in house, and am always leary when walking on stapled felt paper since i fear it will rip and away I'll go....been there done that personally and on that same roof the other guy slide down prior to me falling due to tearing, let's just say we left after I fell and punched a second hole in the sheeting with my hammer to keep from going over and comtinued the next morning LOL!!
