Any Paslode Framing Nailer Owners?

Hey guys I'm looking for a new framing nailer. I really like the Paslode F-350S, I did have one concern though, at the end of the magazine where the plastic cap is there is a metal latch with just a little spring on it. It seems like that little cheap spring will be gone in a week. You guys have any problems with that or anything else? And also, any differences that you guys know of in the offset full head nails verses the center full head nails that other guns use?

Thanks, Dave

It is not cheaply made. There will not be a problem with the nailer. I have 2 of them, and they are great. We have two of those, the positive placement, 6 cordless framers and 2 16 guage angled cordless nailers. I have not had a problem with any paslode. They are superior tools.

In six or seven years I have never needed to service mine. Be careful when loading it with two nail clips not to underlap the nail heads, Thats the only way ive been able to jam these guns. Also keep an eye out for that screw in the center of the orange discharge cap from backing out.

Re: Any Paslode Framing Nailer Owners?

I've used several versions of the Paslode framing nailer over the years and would never buy a differant nailer.

Like Guisbuild said, the only time i've seen that spring has came loose was when a hose let go and the gun dropped a few stories.

The only thing that i've seen cause it problems is trying to nail into double Paralam beams, it would leave the odd nail head out.

Re: Any Paslode Framing Nailer Owners?

I see that some people don't clean theirs often, and have had no issues.

However, the key to trouble-free reliable operation of the paslode framers, is to regularly clean the guns.
The included manual, lays out the method to do this, using a de-greaser and only Paslode oil.

We have had zero issues with our guns, that we clean once or twice a year, dependant of use volume.

BTW: We also have the angled finish nailers, with zero issues, and regular cleaning too.

Enjoy your Paslode.

Tip: Don't try and use cold gas canisters, the guns will not work. We always keep a few in the front cab of our trucks (Floor), for ready-use, in colder months.

Re: Any Paslode Framing Nailer Owners?

I've been eyeballing the coiler too... wonder how the availability of the nail selection is though.

I've had a paslode framer for several years never cleaned it or oiled it and it worked extremely well... then it got stolen and I bought a new one, oiled it and cleaned it religiously, now its on the fritz after two years.....

I use the orange trigger most of the time and the problem I'm having is that I have to hold it down for about a half a second before it actually fires. changing the trigger doesn't help how long I have to hold it with the trigger depressed but it does stop it from double tapping, but then it takes forever to fire again.... I dunno I'll have to take it in to the service department... although if anyone had this problem please lemme know how to fix it. I grabbed another gun and kept on trucking but now I'm coming up on a job where I'd like to have all my framing nailers in use at once so I need to fix ASAP.

Thanks,
Alex

Re: Any Paslode Framing Nailer Owners?

Hi Alex, i wonder did you ever figure out the problem with the paslode nailer ? i have a similar sounding problem with my framing nailer where it will miss every so often or fires off a double hit then it takes several cycles to fire again. This as you can imagine is no use when your using the tool professionally so i have bought a second gun which works perfectly but i would still like to get my original working properly again. Its been into the repair shop 6 or 7 seven times now with no improvement!!

I'd be gratefull for any advice

Thanks
Mat

The one your having a problem with. Is that the hose less? I originally had the very old first generation cordless. The first black ones without the electronic ignition. That stopped working for me years ago but worked for about eight years. I have the framing max hosed one now. When it has a hard time firing I just adjust the nose with the allen key. If your help has a tendency to jam the gun hard into the work the nose adjustment might creep up.

Mine seems to do that when it's around freezing or colder. I hate that!! It goes away when It warms up.

Orange trigger (bump fire) indicates you're using the pneumatic tool possibly the F350S. If I might make a recommendation there are a few things that might cause the tool to act this way. First is the trigger itself being worn. The metal lever wears at the contact point with the upper probe. Second is the upper probe or upper work contact element being bent. The bend could be undetectable to the eye and still cause this. To see if it's either of these, try to CAREFULLY trip the trigger valve stem with a screw driver. If it shoots normally then one of those is your problem. If not then it's probably three orings. They are #6,7 and 17 on the schematic for the F350. Or install a rebuild kit (about $15.00). This isn't a real hard job if you're adept mechanically. Instructions are provided in the package. Keep me informed.
