12" Saw Blade Question
My terminology my be faulty but here goes.
I have always wondered why the 12" blades I buy for my SCMS have a 1" "arbor" hole requiring me to add a 1" to 5/8" reducer/washer. Any ideas? My ideas to remedy this are: A. The manufacturer could just make the hole 5/8" from the start. Or, are there a whole bunch of saws out there with 1" arbors? Or, B. The could make a knock out like in the 7 1/4" blades that is 5/8" and knocks out to 1". Thanks for the input. Maybe I can put this one to rest. Mike |

Re: 12" Saw Blade Question
So far as I know, - - it's just that 1" is the largest of the 'standard' arbor sizes, - - so it's easiest for everyone if all the bores are made at 1", - - and then you just use the appropriate reducer-bushing to fit your particular saw arbor size . . .

Re: 12" Saw Blade Question
You must have a DeWalt SCMS.
I think this is the only brand of 12" saws that has a 5/8" arbor, all the others are 1". So, Yes most 12" saws have a 1" arbor, which is why the blades are made that way. |
