Re: Women Doing Drywall
Yes there are women in every state doing drywall as well as all other construction duties. A company here in Orlando I was working with had a woman who was the superintendent of all finishers (100 of them) Women have advantages and disadvantages in the trades. You will always do best to highlight your strong suits and to minimize your weakness. Most men wait for the women on the site to ask for help in doing the heavy work. Sometimes it comes, and sometimes it doesn't. The trades will probably always be viewed as man's work, but inroads are being made every day by highly qualified women. The best medicine to alter these view points is to keep your head down on your work and your head up in tearms of attitude. Good luck!

Re: Women Doing Drywall
This is interesting. I have a small crew, and have thought that the perception of a woman on the crew might not help me to most male customers.
Any thoughts on that? James |

Re: Women Doing Drywall
Why not? Why would they care? As long as the work gets done..right? If you bring in the Sweedish Bikini Team it might pose a problem..but other than that they are trade workers doing a job. I had a guy in a wheel chair who ran evrything from 5' down with very good precision. He was followed by a guy who topped it out and they ran around a room as if it were on fire! Never let preconceived notions alter your business strategy. You hire the best person for the job man or woman. Why would you do it any differently?

Re: Women Doing Drywall
I have a woman that works for me, and unlike some men i have used, i dont need to be watching her work, i can leave a job site at anytime and know that she wont stop as soon as i leave. In fact if she has finished what she was doing when i left she finds something else to get on with. Also she can carry a bundle of shingles without effort un like some men, and she is only 5' 2" 130 lbs.

Re: Women Doing Drywall
Alright the Eastern German womens rugby team from 1984 does that help clear the image?
