Where Are The Plans?


are blueprints to exsisting houses kept with the city or county? if so how do i locate them. i'm locating bearing walls with minimal demo

No. If you are lucky, the builder will have a set, but that is doubtful for a house over a couple of years old.

In my county you can find any plan at the building dept back till 1973. Our building dept is not part of the county administration but a private non profit contractor. The city here is under the same private non profit building dept. I would guess every county/city is different so you would have to make some phone calls to find out if they keep plans.
