Trailer Hitch Receivers

The two inch hitch receiver on the back of every guys truck has more uses then holding those great bumper balls and pulling a trailer. I have seen a plumber rig a hot water tank holder, a roofer place a motor for his shingle lift, not to mention the ever lovely soccer moms rack "bike".

Tie a rope off for steep angle roof work. The guy on the roof gets to hold the keys!

Re: Trailer Hitch Receivers

I got my Suburban stuck in the mud a few weeks back... After waiting around for 5 hours for a tow truck that never showed up ("couldn't find us"), my father ended up getting out there (hour's drive away), and we just hooked his Tahoe receiver-to-receiver to my truck, and he pulled me out with a bit of effort.

Of course, I thanked him profusely, and I'm glad I have those kinds of parents, especially living here in town.

I've used the hole for the pin to bend rebar- works great if you don't have a rebar bender handy

I'd be interested to see my coworker's and my suburban together, vs. my boss's 4x4 dually...

Re: Trailer Hitch Receivers

I saw the van that had the hot water tank attached to the hitch receiver, had to stop and talk to him about the set up. Turns out it was from his father’s scooter. His father used it to go to auctions and to the mall with his buddies. The lift was simple enough, it was cable driven, lifted about a 500 lbs. and elevated it enough to be level with the bumper. It was great for 2 hot water tanks, and gas fireplaces is what he used it. And when not being used folded up against the back of the van. He used it every day because it kept his van clear to get tools and supplies.
