Supports For A Patio Overhang

My wife and I are looking at a house to buy in a Chicago suburb and I need some advice. Our inspector noted that the overhang between the house and garage isn't supported well enough for the weight of snowfall. He suggested we add posts to the side near the garage to support it. Right now it looks like it is only braced and or screwed into the garage side. What are some suggestions to strengthen this and costs? Contractor cost and diy cost? I'm thinking adding 4x4s or 6x6s secured in cement on the grass side. Not sure what to do on the side with poured concrete.

Any advice is appreciated, thanks.
