Sunken Patio And Water Removal

I have a client that wants to build a sunken patio/bar next to their pool. Since we are in Houston I am concerned that it will flood, or at least hold water at a minimum. I am looking for recommendations on the best way to get rid of the water. Figuring on sump pit/pump but not sure how to do it.

Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Re: Sunken Patio And Water Removal

A couple of floor drains going into a sump with a pump will certainly work, provided the HO keeps the pump screens clean. My preferred method would be to try to get the drain lines to just gravity feed into the storm drain or a down hill dry well if the ground elevation will allow it.
