Stud Finder Through EFIS
I need a good stud finder to pick up metal studs behind the 1" foam and the rock. The ones i used to use were not very reliable. Thanks for any help. I think EFIS and Drivit/Drivet are about the same.

Re: Stud Finder Through EFIS
For really thick EFIS and Drivit (more than 1" foam) I use a piece of ceiling wire or insulation support wire, cut off at a 45* angle and poke. For ordinary EFIS on metal studs, I use a high quality cow magnet. It works like a charm. Sticks right to the stud, and the fully rounded off torpedo profile of the cow magnet keeps the EFIS from getting scuffed up.

Re: Stud Finder Through EFIS
I just started using a magnet also as I wasn't having much luck with stud-finders.
I just purchased this from McFeeley's...works like a charm. Attachment 3105 Here is the webpage: http://www.mcfeelys.com/product.asp?...3040&id=856100

They are now being sold in tool supply stores .... finally. I used to have to drive to a "farm and Fleet" to get them... But then again, I have been using them for over 10 years, and have about a dozen of them ... got sick of driving so far for cow magnets... They are normally and approximately, 3/8" Dia. and 3" long and silver and look like something your girlfriend might keep in her nightstand. Last edited by Peladu; 10-07-2006 at 12:34 PM. |
