Stucoo Help

ohhhhhhhhhh, this is getting old.yesterday when i left the job,i asked the homeowner to turn on the water sprinkler "near" the stucco wall i had just finished.i set the sprinkler so that it would not hit the wall, but get close, hoping enough mositure would keep the wall from cracking.when i got on the job, this morning, the wall was soaking wet.and after 2 hours or so of drying it was WHITE.i think i can respray the wall, but i am afraid the minerals from the water will leech thru.
my question is,what can a man use to stop that?we talked about maybe using diluted vingar.maybe someone else has an idea.
thanks.

Re: Stucoo Help

Are you sure it isn't efflorescence from the salts in the stucco? If it is you need to let it dry out first and then try to brush as much as possible off before trying masonry cleaners.

Re: Stucoo Help

at first thought thats what i thought it was.but after i looked again and seen the same white on the roof where water had hit it,im convinced it is minerals in the water.we were running the water from the house, and i thought they had a softener, but we are running straight from the well.

Re: Stucoo Help

Well water.. hehe, ya. White stuff all over, sounds like sulfer. Does it stink? Smell at all? Could also be like up north, salt.. they have these 50 gallon drums that all water goes through, filled with salt, to get rid of the sulfer.

Anyhoo, vingear will react with the salt and stink like.. well, you know, best bet is to sub a power washing company and pay the hundred or so to get it cleaned without having to figure it out. It costs me more in man hours to power wash a wall than some of these guys around here charge to do a house.
