Spanning Steel question

hello

We are looking at building a hanging ceiling and not sure of which steel to use.
we are thinking 100mm high, 50mm wide, 6mm thickness L shaped steel and it has to span 4.4m . each span will be holding roughly 40 pieces of 70x35 hardwood.

will the above listed steel span correctly?

also, if this job does prove to difficult and expensive, what other hangin ceiling options are there out there? we are working in a factory space and want to create a hanging/false ceiling to hide the warehouse ceiling.

That's what structural engineer's are for. Call one.

If , God forbid, your ceiling does fall out you do not want to be held responsible for the engineering if you really should not be doing it in the first place.

the roof is fine, its just a matter of if the steel will span the 12m and hold the 40 odd bits of hardwood between the 4.4 spans

Which is precisely the question engineers handle, because they know better than some guy on the internet a thousand miles away, who can't even see what you're doing.
