Sound Proofing

Hi all,

Gotta project I am starting soon. The addition is in a factory. It's a very noisy factory, and the room we are building is an office/meeting room. Noise is an issue, aside from insulation, what else is there that works very well. My customer made a clear point to mention this to us at least a few times. Nothing has been built as of yet. Room is 15 X 23.
Were rocking the inside, and 3/4 ply on the outside of the addition. It will be 4 new walls with a small hallway to existing.

Thanks

Re: Sound Proofing

What has worked for me in the past is this. Build a wall with 2x6 plates (top and bottom) and 2x4 studs. You will have to buy twice as many studs. Off set them from one side of the room to the other. Basically hold 2x4 flush on oneside 16 on center and on the other side of wall hold flush but nail them in the center of the other side. Then wieave insulation in between the studs. Double sheetrock, overlapping seams. Do not forget to seal the bottom plate to floor with good quality sealent. And I would get a good door (not a hollow door) Has anyone else done it this way?
