Removing An Aspestos Roof?

What does it take to remove an aspestos roof?

How much more costly is it?

I know we will have to hire an outside company, I just wanted to learn a little more before we get involved with the job.

Re: Removing An Aspestos Roof?

I'm sure your local tear-off company can give you a pretty accurate price. Most companies I've dealt with suprisingly didn't even care what kind of roof it was, asbestos or not. All they cared about was size of job in squares, type of material to be removed, and how many layers. If you are sub-ing the work, let them know what it really is, then let them be resposible and you play dumb.
ps- I'm having trouble finding asbestos abatement contractors these days

Proper disposal is necessary using a sealed container. Home owners can do it themselves without the goofy gear. Contractors have to wear the gear. At least that was how it was around here about 10 years ago.

Search this forum. It was asked and answered recently.

Tearing off an asbestos roof requires an EPA certified crew, and special disposal permits. It may also require special transportation permits.
