Raising A Porch Roof

I have to raise a porch roof about 1/2" to replace a 12' section of the rim. Only raising 12' of it. The porch is 49'x6' with a metal roof so it's not very heavy. I have screw jacks I am going to be useing. My question is can I raise it by 1/2" in one day or should I go 1/4" per day? I know when I raised a section of a house I only went 1/4" per day for 4 days to get me an inch of clearance. Thank's in advance.

Re: Raising A Porch Roof

Unless the porch is finished off there would be no reason not to go the 1/2" at one time. If it is sheathed on both sides or sheetrocked or a lot of finished windows in it then you could the go slower.

Re: Raising A Porch Roof

Ken,

There should be no problem lifting a 12' section 1/2" at one time. We pick whole barns and houses 10' in one day.
