What's wrong with that? They obviously care about quality, otherwise they wouldn't have stapled the rubber flashing to the pole...

Re: Nice Garage

It looks to me like all they needed to do was move the garage forward 2 feet... Why would someone allow a utility pole in thier garage?? I sure hope it was a DIY job because if a "contractor" did that he should be shot.

Re: Nice Garage

This is actually pretty close to me so I HAD to drive by and see for myself. Unfortunately, it had already been corrected. I'm 90% certain it was a homeowner job by looking at all the other HO work in the back yard. Oddly this is in a neighborhood of $500k-2 mil homes In a very nice part of Minneapolis about a block away from the lakes. (proximity to the lakes in Minneapolis=big $) The house was huge and extensively renovated by pros somewhat recently. It's probably $750k. You'd think this was behind a mobile home.

Re: Nice Garage

This is stuff that makes us in construction look bad. Doesn't seem to matter if it was done by an HO or by construction workers. People assume it's construction workers.

That's pretty bad. It's not just simply this guys pole, it looks like a whole bunch of other people rely on this one pole.

Tear it down. It has to be built on property he doesn't own outright, like an easement of some type maybe.

It is always good to see someone adding value to the properties surrounding quality projects... Fine the dude, then hang him from his own rafters....likely would hold long enough to get a kick in or two...

it doesn't matter if it is a DIY or a contractor, no matter who tried to pull that off, they should be shot

and how exactly did they pull that one off?

what does everyone want to bet that the guy that built it considered using the pole as structural support?

Re: Nice Garage

From what I could see they completely removed the roof and the right side of the garage was left open as a fenced in area. It's hard to see from the photos but the right side was never a garage stall to start with. It now looks like a one car garage with a fenced in area on the right side where the utility pole is.
