Re: Need Help With Pella Casement Windows
Yes, generally an easy fix. If you remove your sashes the jamb liner comes out, it is the gray plastic thing. Behind there are the brains of the unit. Sometimes the rope just comes off of a pulley. Your best bet might be to PM brownie77 (not positive on the name use the search function), he works for one of the Pella stores. Brownie should be able to fax you instructions you get you Pella's contact info. If something is actually broken you will need the serial number in the lower left corner of the window. If you can't get in touch with bownie, let me know.

Re: Need Help With Pella Casement Windows
You should be able to turn it over to Pella. When ever I have a problem with a window I don't mess with it (unless it's obvious what it is). Call your supplier they will have the rep call you. If you give them the info they should contact your customer and schedule a repair time.

Re: Need Help With Pella Casement Windows
Call your Pella supplier, If you installed the windows properly they will send their own service guy out to fix any manufactures defects. At least thats what they do for us. dont know if it may be different with your distributor

Re: Need Help With Pella Casement Windows
Hi Wayne,
Call the your local Pella store. They should be able to send out a service tech free of charge. (labor is covered on warrenty issues 2 years after purchase). Make sure you verify this, as all branches operate a little differently. If you would like to try and fix it yourself... It sounds like the string has fully retracted into the block and tackle system. -remove both sashes (gently unhook the string from the other side.) -Pull off the jamb cover on the side missing the string. -you should now see the block and tackle box (metal box with the sash cord hanging out of it) -Pull the sash cord back up and loop it through the pulley -Put jamb cover back on, and put the sashes back in. As far as the rough open and closing issues..check to see if the unit has excess paint in the jamb track or between the two sashes. Also note: larger units tend to operate a little rougher than smaller units. (weight issues) The operation tends to get better over time, once the weather stripping is broken in etc... Hope this helps.... Eric |

Re: Need Help With Pella Casement Windows
Not sure if this is still the case but Pella use to pay me to repair their stuff so they would not have to send out a service tech. If I called and needed parts I would offer to replace the parts for $____ and they would cut a check with no questions. They are a stand up company when it comes to service but sometimes it is quicker if I can handle it. A couple of years ago I called them when one of my customes did not like the wood on her patio door. I figured that they would tell that it was her fault for not inspecting it prior to the install or blame it on my install, nope, not many questions asked other than them asking me if they can send me a check for $450 to replace it with a new one.
