Measuring Stonework Square Footage
What is the correct way to measure stone square footage when there is a cap stone involved? Do you just measure the heigth of the wall including the cap stone or do you measure up the wall under the bottom of the cap stone, up the side of the capstone, and over the top of the cap stone (more square footage)?
Thanks, Kermmonk |

Re: Measuring Stonework Square Footage
I would think measure straight up the wall and charge a per foot price extra for the cap stone.

Thanks for the input. Any stone masons out there that could tell me how they measure/charge for cap stones?

SqFt on wall, LnFt on Cap, if you are going to use that system of payment.

Re: Measuring Stonework Square Footage
We would figure it the same way as Tscar stated if we were to bid it that way. We lump sum contract 96% of our work.
What and how your charging and how and what your paying for should be clearly known before any work is started.
