Question

Load Bearing Wall

I have a wall that I would like to use as a load bearing wall. This wall will not only carry the weight of the floor above it, but also a knee wall for the roof. I am wondering if I may have a problem with this because the wall is off set approximately 18 inches from the girder and piers below. Can someone tell me if this is close enough to use this wall to carry the load or if the wall absolutely needs to be directly over the girder and piers. Thanks in advance for any help.

Yeah, someone can. That someone's name is your engineer. There's not nearly enough information given so far to even guess. Engineers are worth their weight in gold on stuff like this, and they're not nearly as expensive as one might think. About the only way you're probably going to pass inspection is with an engineer sealed detail on that anyhow.
