Little Green Tubes

Found this question on another forum... Any ideas...

"I have noticed that a lot of the homes going up around my development have
little green or white (air?) lines that run around the windows and doors in
the frame of the house and all run back to a central location.
They seem to be about the thickness of about 16 ga. or 18 ga. wire but they
are hollow plastic like air lines.
I have noticed these with many builders, not just one.
What are they for?
"

The answers elsewhere have been varied. Any smart guy here know what this is or could be???

TIA

I've never seen it, but add to me to the list of people that would like to know what they are. Post pics if you have them, what is the area. Alarm?

That is the strange part. The question was posted on a Alarm group newsgroup and so far the responses have been from some type of extermination system for bugs to something to keep the windows and doors from freezing. I can't imagine it being either one. I just don't know!!

Pictures would be nice as well. For all I know it could just be a bunch of BS. If it is I am sorry I woke everyone up to think about it.

Later,

Later,
Maybe, when you read "I have noticed that a lot of the homes going up around my development", you have to wonder why he wouldn't just go ask the guys, I would.

Re: Little Green Tubes

Sounds like a pnumatic style alarm system. I was diging some piers at a school in florida and I found 2" sprinklerline with several wires around the pipe turned out the wires were hollow tube used to activate the valves on the sprinkler zones. The tubes were 18-14 ga maybe.

There also spider control systems. Are spiders a problem in that area?

Re: Little Green Tubes

I've seen pest control systems( mosquitos, spiders, etc.) that look like what your describing, down here in some of the more heavily foliaged areas of Miami, mostly higher end neighborhoods. Around windows, along eaves.....even ran up into the larger tree's on some properties......Anyway, thats my guess.

Re: Little Green Tubes

They're a termite injection preinstall. Pretty popular in some areas in the south. All the tubes home run back to a service box in the yard next to the house where the exterminator can squirt in his juice every once in a while.

I thought it was termite control too, until he said it was run to every door and window.

Re: Little Green Tubes

Pest control. The lines terminate in a valve in the garage or outside. The exterminator hooks his machine up and pumps his chemicals into the walls.
